Glossary
The words these docs and Studio use, grouped by where you meet them. Labels in bold are what you see on screen.
Studio and your store
- Studio: Saytu's dashboard, where you set up your character, knowledge and widget. On Shopify it opens inside your Shopify admin. Studio is also the name of the largest plan.
- Install: one store or website connected to Saytu. On Shopify, your store is the install. On other websites, each site you add under Sites is one. Your plan sets how many sites you can have.
- Setup wizard: the steps that run the first time you sign in, from picking a character to going live. See The setup wizard.
Your character
- Character: the AI your shoppers talk to. It has four tabs in Studio: Persona, Avatar, Voice and Brain. Your plan sets how many characters you can have. See Character.
- Persona: who the character is. Its name, who it Speaks as, its Speaking style, its AI instructions and its First greeting.
- Tone: how the character sounds in every reply: Warm, Playful, Concise, Professional or Detailed. The setup wizard calls it Tone and Studio calls it Speaking style.
- Greeting: the first message shoppers see when they open the chat.
- Avatar: how the character looks. It can be one of Saytu's characters, an Instant Avatar, or a Live2D model you upload. The chat can also run without a character, in the Plain layout.
- Instant Avatar: a look made from one image. In Avatar, choose Create from one image and upload a PNG or JPG. Saytu draws the blinks and mouth shapes. Depending on where you start, it becomes a new character or the current character's new look. It starts on the Starter plan, with a set number each month.
- Upload Live2D: use a rigged Live2D model you already have. It renders exactly as it was made. Available on Pro and Studio.
- Save character: saves your changes. There is no separate publish step: a saved character is live on your store.
Knowledge
- Knowledge: everything your character answers from. You sync your store, add pages by their address, write FAQs and write notes. See Knowledge.
- Library: all of your knowledge in one list. Each source shows whether Saytu could read it: Read, Waiting to read, Could not read or Off.
- FAQs: questions and answers you write yourself. Your plan sets how many you can add.
- Notes: rules, exceptions, preorder terms and other guidance you write for the character. It works them into its answers. Keep one note per topic.
- Needs attention: a list in Knowledge, next to FAQs, of questions that need a better answer. Identical questions collect into one row, with how often they were asked and how many flags they carry. A row comes from someone marking an answer wrong (Flagged by a person) or from a scan of past chats (Machine-suggested). From a row, choose Draft FAQ to write the fix, or Ignore if the answer was right.
Conversations
- Inbox: every conversation shoppers have with your character. See Inbox.
- Handoff: when a shopper asks for a person, the character tells them once that a team member will reply in the same chat, then stops replying. The conversation waits in the Inbox for your team.
- Join conversation: take over a conversation from the Inbox. If the shopper asked for a person, joining tells them you're here. Otherwise it pauses the character's replies until you hand it back.
- Resume: hand the conversation back to the character. The button carries your character's name, for example Resume Sayna AI.
Installing
- Embed code: the one line of code that puts Saytu on a website that isn't on Shopify. You paste it once, on every page. See Install.
- Publishable key: the key inside your embed code that tells Saytu which install the widget belongs to. It sits in your page's code, where anyone can see it, and that's expected. Studio shows it under Sites.
- App embed: how Saytu goes on a Shopify store. You switch Saytu on under App embeds in the Theme Editor and save. There is no code to paste.
- Check live signal: a check in Studio that tells you whether the widget has loaded on your site. See Check that it's live.
Plans and usage
- Plan: what your account includes. The plans are Free, Starter, Pro and Studio. See Plans and limits.
- AI reply: the unit your plan counts. One shopper message and the character's reply to it make one AI reply. Replies your team sends from the Inbox don't count. When a month's AI replies are used up, the character pauses until the next month. See Troubleshooting.
- Voice minutes: how long the character can speak its replies each month. When they're used up, replies carry on in text.
